In Obama's first "press conference" on November 7, 2008, President-elect Obama becomes the first trailer trash President with his crude remarks about a highly respected former First Lady.
In terms of speaking to former presidents, I have spoken to all of them, uh, that are, uh, living ... obviously, uh, President Clinton, uh ... [laughter] ... hey, I didn’t want to get into a Nancy Reagan, uh, thing about doin’ any seances...
It is our understanding that Mrs. Reagan is currently recovering from a broken hip.
This from a man that promised a new kind of politics. This is really disgusting. Obama should apologize to Mrs. Reagan immediately.
If you recall, this is the same man that slyly gave the finger to Hillary and again to McCain during his campaign rallies as his worshipers laughed at his "joke".
Why was this called a press conference? I don't remember any member of the press yelling out to ask questions. I saw Obama looking at a card on the podium, selecting reporters for questions. He ended with a CNN reporter that covered his campaign for two years.
Update 11/7/2008 11:50 PM Per Weekly Standard
Reagan consulted an astrologist [no seances], after her husband was shot. There's at least one account of Hillary Clinton attempting to speak to the deceased Eleanor Roosevelt during her time in the White House in the spiritual biography, "God and Hillary Clinton," by Paul Kengor.
We hear Lincoln's wife may have conducted a seance or two; however, the practice was fashionable at the time.
